Biochar

Biochar is simply charcoal that is made suitable for soil. We make it by heating wood in the absence of oxygen, leaving behind a charcoal that is very porous and rich in carbon. We then grade it to the size most beneficial for the soil, then blend with the compost.

The millions of tiny pores in biochar enhances microbial activity, absorbs and releases water when needed, and holds onto nutrients so they are not leached out of the soil. It also provides structure and aeration to the soil – so essential for a healthy, living soil

Wormcasts (aka worm poo)

The richest natural fertilizer known to humans, wormcasts are packed full of natural plant growth promoters, humus, and micronutrients. The worms are fed on organic waste (never peat) and they live in the feed material for up to two years so you can be sure that every inch has been through a worm at least once. It is this key process that helps the soil structure and nutrients availability the root zone.

Volcanic Rock Dust

Contains two thirds of all known non-synthetic minerals, and is a natural method of replenishing essential trace elements to your soil. Rock Dust benefits include tastier fruit and vegetables and increased resistance to pests.

Organic Coconut Coir

An eco-friendly alternative to peat, with a high water & nutrient holding capacity. The coir increases the porosity of soil helping to keep it loose and airy for better root growth.

Made in The Lake District

We make our biochar is made right here in the Lake District from 100% sustainable wood. The wood is derived from woodland managed specifically to promote health and new life for our native trees and plants as well as creating better habitat for woodland birds and butterflies.

Biochar enhanced soil improver lasts for decades

Biochar does not break down in the soil, so its benefits remain for many years. Think of it as a long-term investment in your soil, with the added bonus of permanently locking up carbon – so it’s good for the planet too.
