Description

Help your plants and flowers bloom with our best-selling organic wool general-purpose biochar compost.

We’ve hand-blended our high-grade biochar into Dalefoot Compost’s renowned wool potting compost, resulting in a beautiful, friable and naturally rich biochar compost.

No need for additional feed

Our organic wool compost provides optimum growing conditions, nutrients and feeds throughout the growing season. We have added comfrey (bocking 14 variety) which adds an even higher concentration of nutrients.

It’s the ideal compost for planters, raised beds, containers, potting and hanging baskets. It also has excellent ‘water buffering’ capacity and has a high resistance to drying out and waterlogging. Your plants will love you for it.

What is biochar?

Biochar is simply charcoal that is made suitable for soil. We make it by heating wood in the absence of oxygen, leaving behind a charcoal that is very porous and rich in carbon. We then grade it to the size most beneficial for the soil, then blend with the compost.

The millions of tiny pores in biochar enchances microbial activity, absorbs and releases water when needed, and holds onto nutrients so they are not leached out of the soil. It also provides structure and aeration to the soil – so essential for a healthy, living soil.

Biochar enhanced compost lasts for decades

Biochar does not break down in the soil, so its benefits remain for many years. Think of it as a long-term investment in your soil, with the added bonus of permanently locking up carbon – so it’s good for the planet too.
